MG America Offers the Prima K7 Thermoforming Machine
Balcony-Style Machine Designed Specifically for Deep-Draw Thermoforming for Syringes, Ampoules, Vials and Medical Devices
MG America, the U.S. subsidiary of MG2 of Bologna, Italy – and a leading supplier of processing, packaging and assembly machinery, service and support to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutritional, food and general packaging industries – now offers the Farmo Res Prima K7 Thermoformer, a machine designed specifically for the deep-draw thermoforming of syringes, ampoules, vials and medical devices. The Prima K7 can run up to 35 cycles per minute and is operated by PLC with transfer on one lane for the production of trays in PET, PVC and polystyrene.
The Prima K7’s primary differentiators are its deep-draw capabilities – the machine can form blisters with depths as great as 40mm – and its gentle handling of fragile products. Other highlights include a new syringe buffer system with a capacity of more than 2,000 syringes; a loading station for vials and ampoules; and forming and loading capabilities from the operator side, resulting in a more compact forming module and easier changeover procedures.
Versatility and Production Performance
All of the Prima K7’s main movement groups are operated by brushless motors, a process that affords high-performance position accuracy, as well as easy speed and acceleration control with quick-step regulation. All motors are connected via a Profibus system allowing for parameter adjustment from display in machine cycle mode. To provide further difference from heating elements and easier size part changeover, 50mm ports are present on both sides of the main groups during machine stop.
Balcony Constructed Frame for Maximum Packaging Area Access
Another attractive feature is the build. The Prima K7’s balcony constructed frame allows maximum access to all packaging areas. The sheath and tubing passages between areas are all in the frame’s lower part – under the running boards – and are accessible for maintenance. The machine also offers easy access to valves, electrical junction boxes and water collection trays, and leaves ample available space for any accessories that may be added post-purchase.
“Offering the Prima K7 Thermoformer – a machine that is both effective and efficient – gives us an even greater portfolio in the pharmaceutical packaging space, particularly in the deep-draw niche,” said Fabio Trippodo, President of MG America. “Its mix of flexibility and reliability represents MG America well.”
